Adam Cooper

Born in London, Adam trained at Arts Educational School and The Royal Ballet School. Starting his career with the Royal Ballet, Adam then went on to pursue a career as a freelance performer and choreographer in dance, musical theatre, film, television, opera and operetta. More recently he has directed musicals for The Curve in Leicester, Gärtnerplatz Theater in Munich, University of Oklahoma and Oper Köln. He has performed and choreographed worldwide and won numerous awards including Evening Standard Award, Critics Circle National Dance Awards, Fred Astaire Award and nominations for Tony and Olivier Awards. He was choreographer in Sunny Afternoon which won 4 Oliver Awards in 2015 including Best New Musical. He has also appeared in various TV and movies including Billy Elliott.

Recent performing credits include Zach in A Chorus Line (Curve Leicester), The Red Shoes (Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures), Don Lockwood in Singin’ in the Rain (Chichester Festival Theatre, Palace Theatre London, Tokyo and UK Tour), The Soldier in Will Tuckett’s The Soldier’s Tale (Royal Opera House London, Japan tour).

Recent Choreography Credits include Mata Hari (Gaertnerplatz Theater), Tootsie The Musical (Gaertnerplatz Theater), Der Vetter aus Dingsda (Gärtnerplatz Theater), The Grand Duchess of Gerolstein (Semperoper Dresden), On The Town (Konzert and Theatre St Gallen). Directing credits include The Rakes Progress (Gaertnerplatz Theater), Candide (Gartnerplatz Theater and Oper Koln), Grand Hotel (University of Oklahoma), Shall We Dance (Sadlers Wells), Simply Cinderella (Curve Leicester), Les Liaisons Dangereuses (Japan tour and Sadlers Wells).
